Architecture by Rafael Moneo at Potsdamer Platz

The Grand Hyatt Berlin is located on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz, on the southern edge of Potsdamer Platz, right in the middle of the district that was completely rebuilt in the nineties. The Philharmonie is within walking distance, the Kulturforum with the New National Gallery is nearby, and the Brandenburg Gate is just over a kilometer away. The building was designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, while the interior design and furnishings are by Swiss designer Hannes Wettstein. Additionally, the hotel features an extensive program of contemporary art. The names of the conference rooms demonstrate how much the hotel sees itself as part of this urban district: they are named after the architects of Potsdamer Platz, namely Piano Moneo, Isozaki-Kollhoff, and Richard Rogers. During the Berlinale, press conferences for newly presented films take place at the hotel. Parking is available for self-parking or with valet service, and there are also charging points for electric cars. The nearest public transport stop is directly adjacent to the building, making everything accessible even without a car.

The Grand Hyatt offers 321 rooms and 21 suites, totaling 342 units. Gastronomically, the hotel operates on four fronts. The Vox Restaurant with its terrace has been located at Potsdamer Platz since 1998, combining European cuisine with French and Japanese influences. It features a large show kitchen and its own sushi counter, with Hugo Thiébaut as head chef. The Vox Bar offers over 300 whisky blends and hosts live music and DJs. The Tizian Lounge serves international classics, and the mesa restaurant offers traditional German dishes for sharing. The Club Olympus Spa and Fitness measures over 800 square meters and is located on the upper floor of the hotel: The indoor pool has a terrace and city views, complemented by a sauna, steam bath, and a fitness area with Technogym equipment. External guests can purchase a day pass. Dogs are expressly welcome and receive a bed, bowls, and a walking map; a dog sitter can be arranged upon request. For events, the Grand Ballroom is available, measuring 724 square meters with ceiling heights of up to six meters. It accommodates 504 guests for banquets and 850 for receptions.
