Turkish Eggs, Shakshuka and Sourdough at Sirene

Sirene in Prenzlauer Berg is one of those cafés that show just how good Turkish breakfast in Berlin can be. The Turkish Eggs come with garlic yogurt and are so well seasoned that you’d want to lick the plate clean. They are served with sourdough bread from Zeit für Brot, which makes a noticeable difference. Those who prefer something sweeter can order the Cottage Cheese Pancakes with caramel and walnuts. Shakshuka, Eggs Benedict on brioche, and Avocado Toast with salmon are also on the menu. Seasonal dishes like asparagus with caviar are added. The coffee quality is also excellent: the beans come from the Berlin roastery Fjord. Matcha latte and ginger turmeric tea complete the beverage offering.

A Permanent Fixture of Kollwitzplatz Since 2023

Sirene opened its doors in July 2023, right next to the historic water tower on Kollwitzplatz. Behind it are Lena Linkova and Aleksei Linkov, who commuted between Kyiv and Berlin for years before opening their own café. The interior was designed by the Berlin design studio RHO Vision, with the striking chessboard pattern of the historic floor tiles becoming the starting point for the entire design. The neighborhood around Kollwitzplatz is already rich in good addresses: those who are still hungry for Turkish cuisine in the evening will find Osmans Töchter on Pappelallee to be a good choice. Those looking for a quiet lunch can visit Lucky Leek on Kollwitzstraße. Incidentally, Sirene maintains a laptop-free policy on weekends, which perfectly highlights the café’s relaxed character.
