Akin Simit Frühstückshaus

Akin Simit Frühstückshaus on Kottbusser Damm serves homemade baked goods, crispy Simit, and hearty breakfast plates at fair prices, daily from 6 AM.
Simit, Menemen, Börek: What’s on the Menu
Turkish breakfast in Berlin hardly gets more classic than this. At Akin Simit Frühstückshaus, everything revolves around Simit, the sesame-crusted yeast bagel that comes fresh from the oven. In addition, there’s Menemen, Su Börek, Gözleme, and hearty egg dishes. If you prefer something light, opt for a fresh salad or soup. The café also scores with homemade cakes: from chocolate cake to fruity strawberry cake. Coffee and authentic Turkish black tea complete the offering. The prices remain pleasantly moderate, which is by no means a given in Berlin anymore.
A Fixture on Kottbusser Damm Since 2014
Akin Simit Frühstückshaus was founded in 2014 as a family business, after over 30 years of experience in Berlin’s café and bakery industry. Since then, it has been a firm part of the Kreuzberg neighborhood around Kottbusser Damm. Those who know the area know that there’s a lot of culinary variety here. Ankerklause, the cult establishment directly on the canal bank, is just a few minutes away, as is Imren Grill, another staple for Turkish cuisine in the district. Akin Simit stays out of the competition and instead relies on reliability, a warm atmosphere, and a breakfast that’s as convincing at 6 AM on a weekday as it is on a relaxed weekend.
