Located on Engeldamm in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Blumental is a light-filled coffee house with plant-based cuisine, spoiling its guests from morning till night: Brunch here is vegan-vegetarian and homemade, with highlights such as pink pancakes with sour cherries or the carrot-salmon sandwich, all following a zero-waste principle.
What’s on the table for breakfast and brunch at Blumental
If you’re looking for a really good breakfast or brunch in Berlin, Blumental is the perfect place. The cuisine is vegan-vegetarian, creative, and full of flavors – with a plant-based focus and truly good ingredients. Whether fluffy French toast, homemade cakes, or handcrafted drinks: the team places great importance on freshness and a low-waste concept. The “Cabbage Cravings” dish is particularly impressive: grilled pointed cabbage on hummus, topped with an exciting Ras-el-Hanout yogurt and hazelnut crunch. The pink pancakes with sour cherries and amaranth crumble are also a real eye-catcher on the plate. If you prefer something small and sweet, you should try the brownie, which is vegan, incredibly chocolatey, and served topped with sea salt flakes.
For drinks, there’s freshly squeezed orange juice and excellent coffee. If you prefer something stronger, you’ll also find natural wines, drinks, and cold beer on the menu. This means Blumental also offers options for those who like their brunch a bit boozy. During the week (Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:00), there’s a smaller daily menu with changing lunch offers, while on weekends (Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00), the extensive brunch menu awaits.
What makes Blumental so special
Located directly on the green Engeldamm, where Germany’s first trade union house and later the Institute for Tropical Medicine were once situated, Blumental, as Berlin’s first modern coffee house, has created a bright, light-filled sun oasis in Kreuzberg. Sustainability at Blumental is not a marketing promise: with the help of its in-house composting machine named “Berta,” all organic waste is processed in the spirit of zero waste and transformed into nutrient-rich compost for the houseplants. If you want to come to Blumental for breakfast or brunch on the weekend, you should make a reservation in advance. If you wish, you can even work relaxed in the in-house coworking area (Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00) after brunch with a second cappuccino.
