TAKUMI NINE 1 on Pappelallee: Sapporo-style Ramen

The establishment at Pappelallee 19 was the first Takumi location in Berlin; a second one on Chausseestraße in Mitte has since been added. They serve Sapporo-style ramen, following the tradition of the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido: rich, slow-cooked broths and homemade noodles. The shop is manageable, with outdoor seating available in summer, and takeaway options for those who prefer. Payments can be made in cash, with EC card, credit card, and contactlessly, which is not always the case among Berlin ramen shops.

From Tori Shoyu to the Vegan Katsu Bowl

The menu is intentionally kept short. The soy-based Tori Shoyu Ramen costs 15.00 Euros, the Tori Miso Ramen 16.00 Euros, as does the Tan Tan Men with sesame and spice. The vegan options are notably prominent and not treated as mere side dishes: there’s a Vegan Katsu Shoyu Ramen for 19.50 Euros, a ramen with vegetable tempura, and a Tantan Men with seitan mince. For those who want to judge the broth purely, the Shoyu variant is best, as the miso base tends to overpower the inherent flavor. In Prenzlauer Berg, this is one of the few places where the noodle soup, not the side dishes, takes center stage.
