The PHO Noodlebar in Berlin-Mitte stands for authentic Vietnamese soup cuisine based on a North Vietnamese recipe. Owner Lani runs three Berlin locations as a true family business, with great passion and a rich, spicy broth that you won't soon forget.

Why PHO Noodlebar is home to the city’s most delicious Phos

Since 2017, Lani and Khanh have been bringing their love for Vietnamese soup cuisine to Berlin. What started as one restaurant in Mitte is now a small family empire: PHO Noodlebar is now available in Kreuzberg, Mitte, and Charlottenburg. The heart of it, of course, is the Pho. What sauerkraut is to Germany, Pho is to Vietnam. With the small difference that Pho is loved by everyone. Why? Because it warms, satisfies, and remains light at the same time. For Lani and Khanh, the matter is as clear as Pho broth: they stick to the North Vietnamese recipe of great-aunt Hop. Their Pho is based on the preparation methods of Northern Vietnam and is intensely and robustly seasoned. That makes all the difference. The broth doesn’t taste generically Asian, but like something that has been simmered for hours with care.

The house recipe also has a name: The Pho Bao is the house specialty and named after Lani’s son. It consists of five different types of beef, each prepared differently.

What else is on the menu

Even if you don’t want soup, you’ll still find something. The menu also delights with aromatic curries, plump summer rolls with shrimp or tofu, Bao Buns with chicken or roast beef, and fragrant rice with tender beef in cinnamon-coconut sauce. Additionally, there are wok dishes like fried rice with a fried egg, kimchi, and okra, or udon from the wok with Hoisin soy sauce, carrots, mushrooms, chili, and fried garlic. There are also plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans: The menu offers vegan choices, including the Buddha Pho and fresh summer rolls with peanut sauce. Finally, it’s worth taking a look at the homemade lemonades. The homemade lemonade tastes refreshing, and they don’t skimp on fresh mint and fruit garnish.
