Lindenbräu am Potsdamer Platz

With 459 indoor seats, a beer garden for 228 guests, and a rooftop terrace with 88 seats, Lindenbräu at Potsdamer Platz is one of the city's largest taverns. Until 2012, Germany's northernmost wheat beer brewery, with a sterling silver brewhouse, stood here. The menu features Bavarian classics alongside Berlin-style Eisbein.

Lindenbräu at Potsdamer Platz is located in the Forum of the Center at Potsdamer Platz, an ensemble of seven individual buildings whose roof construction is meant to evoke Mount Fuji. The establishment opened in February 2000, and until 2012, it housed Germany’s northernmost wheat beer brewery with a globally unique brewhouse made of 925 sterling silver. Brewing no longer takes place on-site, but the copper kettles of the old system still stand in the beer lobby, surrounded by high tables. Spread across three floors, there are 459 indoor seats, plus a beer garden with 228 seats in the wind- and sun-protected interior of the center, and a rooftop terrace with 88 seats. A special feature is the Lindenalm, an alpine hut with digital windows where an hourly mountain thunderstorm with thunder and lightning is simulated. On the first floor, a gallery for up to 24 guests overlooks the open kitchen, and on the second, there is an event room with its own bar. Parking is available in the center’s underground garage with entrances on Bellevuestraße and Ben-Gurion-Straße.

Lindenbräu’s menu mixes Bavarian brewery classics with Austrian alpine dishes and Berlin specialties. The crispy pork knuckle with napkin dumplings, sauerkraut, and hearty beer sauce weighs around 1,300 grams and costs 24.90 Euros; the Berlin-style Eisbein with boiled potatoes, sauerkraut, and pea puree stands alongside it, highlighting the difference from the purely Munich establishments in the city. Also available are Munich Weißwürste in a terrine, Obatzda, Wiener Schnitzel, Tyrolean Käsespätzle, and a vegan Schupfnudel pan. On tap are Berliner Pilsner directly from the tank, Oberdorfer Helles, Büble Edelweißbier from the Allgäu, Zwickel, the dark beer Märkischer Landmann, and our own organic unfiltered beer made to our house recipe, a liter for 11.40 Euros. For groups, there’s a “meter of beer,” eight glasses with four different tap varieties, plus homemade Berliner Weisse variations and freshly mixed beer cocktails. In winter, two curling rinks are set up in front of the restaurant, and for parties of 35 people or more, the establishment arranges buffets.
