The structure, once conceived as an airship hangar, has housed a unique leisure facility since 2004. The 5.5 million cubic meter swimming paradise gathers the charms of the most famous tropical countries over a length of 360 meters and a width of 210 meters. Anyone who steps through the entrance gate immediately notices: The dimension is hard to grasp. At constant temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius, numerous attractions await, including a South Sea swimming pool surrounded by a sandy beach. There is also a rainforest where flamingos, macaws, and turtles live, as well as a 10,000 square meter sauna landscape offering, among others, herbal and stone saunas, and a tree sauna in the treetops of the jungle village.

In addition to fountains, whirlpools, cascades, and a current channel, the children’s pool and several slides, some leading up to 27 meters deep, are very popular. The offer is surprisingly broad: trampolines, climbing courses, go-kart tracks, and beach volleyball courts, as well as a small shopping mile, provide entertainment away from the water. If you’re planning an overnight stay: guests can choose between thematically designed rooms inspired by South America, Africa, or the Asia-Pacific region.

Sauna, Spa, and Wellness: Is it worth visiting for adults?

Tropical Islands is no longer purely a family water park. With seven saunas and steam baths spread over 10,000 square meters, the sauna and spa complex offers ample space for relaxation, even after an active day in the tropical world. Six different wellness zones with attractions such as a gemstone steam sauna, a floral steam sauna, a healing earth bath, and various Ayurvedic treatments await visitors. Hot stone massages, Thai massages, facials, and body wraps can also be booked. However, it should be known that the sauna area is a textile-free zone according to German standards. Those familiar with this can truly switch off there.

Parents report that they were able to relax wonderfully in the sauna area while the children enjoyed the attractions in the tropical hall. Nevertheless, be aware: it can get noticeably crowded on weekends. A total of 13 restaurants and bars are available, with prices generally on the higher side for leisure facilities.
