At Senefelder Platz in Prenzlauer Berg, the Sonne und Mond health center combines yoga and Ayurveda into a holistic teaching concept. The cross-traditional yoga teacher training is aimed at all who not only want to practice yoga, but truly understand it.

Sonne und Mond: In-depth Yoga Teacher Training in Berlin

Those seeking a solid yoga training in Berlin will sooner or later find themselves in the light-filled loft floors at Senefelder Platz. The Sonne und Mond health center welcomes its guests right in the heart of Berlin, where yoga and Ayurveda have long been passed down from person to person, and the center is dedicated to preserving and passing on this knowledge. No crash course, no certificate after four weekends. Instead: a training that takes its time.

The basic training spans 2.5 years and is divided into 5 semesters. In the first and second year, 7 intensive weekends take place, plus a full seminar week per year at a seminar house outside Berlin. The format is deliberately designed so that working professionals can participate without completely reorganizing their lives. The cross-traditional training also allows for a deeper immersion into yoga, fostering an intense, personal experience on the yoga path.

BDY-Certified and with Real Practical Relevance

What distinguishes Sonne und Mond from other yoga trainings in Berlin is the demand placed on the teachers themselves. All yoga teachers have at least a four-year training certified by the Professional Association of Yoga Teachers in Germany (BDY) and regularly undergo further training as teachers. Head of training, Alexander Peters, brings particular expertise: He worked for a long time as a research assistant and yoga therapist in the university outpatient clinic of Charité and the department of naturopathy at Immanuel Hospital, where he supervised studies on the effectiveness of yoga and treated numerous patients with yoga therapy.

The thematic focuses go far beyond asanas. Pranayama as a vital resource, health promotion and self-care, reading and understanding yoga source texts, as well as meditation and inner stillness are firmly part of the curriculum. Applicants should already have experience with yoga. Participation requires guided and independent yoga practice, as well as an informal written application with justification. This is followed by a trial lesson on site. A good first step to feel if the concept truly fits.
