Two Salons on the Edge of Mauerpark

Danziger Straße 56 is located on the M10 tram route, a few steps from the intersection with Prenzlauer Allee and not far from Mauerpark. Hairdresser Haareszeiten operates the larger of its two locations here; the second is on Oderberger Straße, both owned by master hairdresser Ralf Hempfe. The business has existed for almost three decades, growing from one salon to two during this time, and the team is correspondingly large: five people work on Danziger Straße, and a total of eleven names are behind the two shops, including several masters and a dedicated master colorist. The salon explicitly sees itself as a place for everyone, is family-friendly, dog-friendly, and designated as LGBTQ-friendly; there is Wi-Fi, coffee, and a loyalty points system. This mix of traditional craft business and neighborhood meeting point explains why the regular clientele often remains the same for years and why consultation is included with every appointment at no extra charge. The fact that two locations can exist so close to each other also says something about the occupancy in the district: if you need a specific desired appointment, it’s better to book early.

Color Craft, Calligraphy Cut, and Clear Prices

Haareszeiten’s focus is on color. Root color, tinting, glossing, bleaching, highlights, and balayage each have their own position on the menu, plus a high-performance tint and a package price for highlights, which saves money compared to individual booking. Certified colorists are on-site for color corrections and strong lightening, which can also be seen in the prices for these elaborate techniques. For cuts, women’s haircuts start at 67 Euros and men’s haircuts at 53 Euros; children’s haircuts are at a fixed price. A special feature is the Calligraphy Cut, where the hair is cut not with scissors but with an angled blade to ensure the tip retains more surface area. Additionally, they offer perms, beach wave perms, hair extensions, updos and wedding hairstyles, as well as a dedicated barber area with beard service. Appointments can be booked online at any time or by phone; the salon expressly does not accept bookings via email. For color corrections, a call is recommended because such appointments require more time than a standard booking.
