Between petticoat nostalgia and rock'n'roll quiffs, this is a gathering of salons where the name alone says it all. At Kaiserschnitt in Friedrichshain, anyone who loves big quiffs and vintage charm will feel right at home. A few streets away, the Ponyclub hides rather inconspicuously behind its curtains in the trendy Kiez. At Friseur Gute Schnitte Salon Hair Nickel in Prenzlauer Berg, first-class cutting technique meets plenty of humour. In Neukölln, La BarBer charges by length and time alone as the city's first queer barbershop, and in Kreuzberg GOD SAVE the MULLET cuts the mullet as a matter of course. Friseur Kaiserschnitt at Wühlischstraße 34 has been cutting hair for years between Boxhagener Platz and Warschauer Straße, making a name for itself in the neighborhood, especially with precise bangs and work on natural curls. The salon is run by Magdalena Held; appointments are made by phone, and the salon deliberately does not publish a price list.
Ponyclub at Kopernikusstraße 13 has been cutting hair in Friedrichshain's Boxhagener Viertel since 1999, charging unisex prices based solely on hair length. Fringe, bob, and long hair cuts cost between 38.50 and 120 Euros, including consultation, wash, and styling. Appointments are made by phone, and color appointments begin with a hair analysis.
La BarBer at Pannierstraße 56 is considered Berlin's first queer barbershop, consistently charging based on hair length, technique, and time, never gender.
