Located at Strausberger Platz in Friedrichshain, Coroto feels like a well-curated living room that never had to commit to one style. Scandinavian Mid-Century design meets South American craftsmanship, European vintage furniture meets ceramics and Kilim cushions. Those looking to furnish their homes individually will find pieces with character here.

Coroto: Where Tropical Living Meets European Vintage Style

Behind the socialist grandeur of Karl-Marx-Allee lies one of Berlin’s most distinctive vintage shops. Jan Deubel and David D’Aubeterre opened Coroto as a curated shop for furniture and home accessories. The concept behind it is deliberately uncategorizable. The collection consists of an eclectic mix: high-quality vintage furniture of European origin from designers such as Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen or Wim Rietveld, South American handicrafts, Scandinavian vintage ceramics and home accessories with exotic patterns. This sounds like a lot, but it all comes together to form a coherent whole.

What makes Coroto so special: The idea for the shop concept arose from observing how Mid-Century furniture and decorative objects of European origin were integrated into modern Latin American households. Co-founder David comes from Caracas and works as an interior designer, hence the tropical influences. This explains why, alongside a 1960s Danish lounge chair, a Kilim cushion from Anatolia or wickerwork from Venezuela also find their place.

Furnish Individually with Curated Unique Pieces

Coroto Vintage Design at Strausberger Platz specializes in European design vintage furniture from the 50s to 80s. The rule is: every piece is unique. Only individual pieces are offered in the shop. So, if you want to furnish your home individually without resorting to mass-produced goods, this is the right place. Added to this is the craftsmanship know-how of the operators: Tropical Living stands for a playful mix of vibrant colors and patterns to create a lively and warm atmosphere. You can feel this from the first glance into the shop. Vintage furniture for individual furnishing with Berlin character and a global perspective. That is exactly what Coroto is.
