Erzgebirgische Volkskunst Münzberg

The traditional Christmas decorations from the Ore Mountains partly come from large, well-known companies, but also from many small family businesses that are still dedicated to handmade Christmas decorations.

Günter Münzberg has been running his business in Spandau for over 20 years. The approximately 30 square meter shop has a wide array of exhibits. Miners, Christmas angels, candle arches, hoop animals, incense smokers, and winged pyramids adorn many living rooms and exterior windows during Advent and Christmas.

Decorative items like the popular small Kurrende figures from the Ore Mountains are also a popular souvenir among tourists. The originals of the Ore Mountains craftsmanship are not cheap, but they are of lasting value and are passed down from generation to generation. Meanwhile, these small figures have become cult objects. There is hardly a living room without some small wooden artwork.
