In unmittelbarer Nähe findet man auch die „Dicke Marie“ – der älteste Baum Berlins mit einer Taillenweite von ganzen sieben Metern und eingetragenes Naturdenkmal. Ihren Namen hat die alte Eiche von den Brüdern Alexander und Wilhelm von Humboldt, die ihre Jugend im Schloss Tegel verbrachten – das Schloss, die Bucht und auch die alte Eiche sind beliebte Fotomotive für das Hochzeitsshooting von Brautpaaren, die in der Waldhütte feiern.
