A vaulted cellar in Berlin-Steglitz where Parma ham hangs from the ceiling, Italian live music sets the mood for the evening, and Maria's menu is served in at least five courses: Osteria Maria is Berlin's most romantic private restaurant for an anniversary that feels like a trip to Italy.

Osteria Maria: When Dinner Becomes a Ceremony

If you want to celebrate your wedding anniversary in Berlin, you need more than just a good restaurant. Osteria Maria in Berlin-Steglitz calls itself a private restaurant and Berlin’s first Prosciutteria. Its concept does not follow any conventional restaurant principle. The Sinnig family built a classic townhouse on a family plot in Steglitz that is over 125 years old, which today houses a remarkable restaurant with a special atmosphere in its vaulted cellar. There you sit, under brick arches, surrounded by wine racks, and feel: This evening is no ordinary one.

On menu evenings, the family serves at least six courses of authentic Italian cuisine. The supply of Italian ham is impressive: sliced paper-thin directly in front of the guests’ eyes, accompanied by self-imported wine, beer, and water as desired, as well as Prosecco as a welcome drink and Grappa for dessert. For those who appreciate romantic surprises on their wedding anniversary: On some evenings, there are small tokens of appreciation for special occasions, such as a rose or a glass of Grappa.

Live Music, Passion, and la dolce vita in Steglitz

At Osteria Maria, another element is added to dinner that truly carries the evening. Every evening, Italian live music ensures that the visit becomes a culinary short break. Guests are served by professional staff who always know how to bring a smile to their faces. In addition, there are homemade Italian dishes, accompanied by delicious wine. The fact that all of this takes place in a vaulted cellar, where cured ham hangs from the ceiling and heavy wooden chairs with elaborate carvings stand, creates an atmosphere that is almost impossible to find elsewhere in Berlin. Reservations are highly recommended, as the indoor restaurant is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 7 PM and on Sundays from 2 PM to 6 PM.
