Since 1995, Wild At Heart has been located opposite Görlitzer Park, in the premises of a former art house cinema. Inside, there are no windows, but there is reddish-brown wallpaper covered with thousands of stickers, red velvet, and a recording studio in the basement. Among the indie clubs in Berlin, Wild At Heart is the place for punk, rockabilly, and free newcomer concerts.

Wild At Heart in Kreuzberg: Rock Club opposite Görlitzer Park

Wild At Heart is located on Wiener Straße directly opposite Görlitzer Park, a few minutes from Görlitzer Bahnhof. In summer, beer benches stand in a small front garden in front of the entrance, which is reliably full on warm evenings. The premises formerly housed the Fsk art house cinema, which moved to Oranienplatz for more space. Since 1995, Lea Reisse and Ulrich Reisse-Gross have been running a club here that is one of the last of its kind in Kreuzberg.

Inside, there are no windows. The reddish-brown wallpaper almost completely disappears under stickers and concert posters, complemented by neon lights, red velvet, skulls, and guitars on the walls. The tables are bolted to the wall to prevent anyone from climbing on them when the house is full, and there is a recording studio in the basement for live recordings. Smoking is still permitted here, and entry is restricted to those 18 years and older.

Punk, Rockabilly and Free Concerts at Wild At Heart

The program stays true to what the name promises: Punk, Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Horrorpunk, Ska, Rocksteady, Surf, Garage, and Indie-Rock. International bands regularly visit, most recently including The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band from the USA, The Grumpynators from Denmark, DeeCracks from Austria, and the British Klingonz. Concert tickets usually cost between 18 and 29 Euros.

However, the most important series at the venue costs nothing at all. On Wild Wednesday, newcomer bands play every week with free admission, often three in a row and almost always from Berlin. After the weekend concerts, DJs play until the night naturally ends. In addition, there are recurring special formats such as the Halloween Weekend, the Ska and Rocksteady Matinee, and the Punk and Rock’n’Roll Flea Market. As of now, payment is cash only.
