Vitis West Café & Wine Hub

Located in the luxurious Bristol Berlin hotel on Kurfürstendamm in Charlottenburg, the Lobby Lounge has welcomed celebrities and globetrotters since 1952. After renovation, it is now called Vitis West Café & Wine Hub, combining old bar traditions with European wine culture, accompanied by live piano on selected evenings.
Vitis West Café and Wine Hub: History you can drink
The lobby of the Bristol Berlin is part of the history of West Berlin’s reconstruction after World War II. The hotel, long known as the Kempinski Hotel Bristol, was the city’s first and, for a long time, only luxury hotel in the 1950s. John F. Kennedy, Cary Grant, and Ava Gardner were among its guests. Anyone sitting at the bar today is, in a way, sitting in Berlin’s collective memory.
The interiors of the historic building were extensively renovated most recently in 2025, with structural elements such as the listed spiral staircase being preserved. Nevertheless, the space does not feel like a museum. Comfortable armchairs, live piano music on selected evenings, and the view of Kurfürstendamm quickly turn a drink into an entire evening.
Bristol Café becomes Vitis West
Since the renovation, the hotel’s Lobby Lounge has been named Vitis West Café and Wine Hub, combining the old bar tradition with European wine culture. Sommeliers present hand-picked wines, complemented by curated wine tastings and high-tea experiences in the afternoon. The cocktail menu remains part of the offering, but wine now sets the tone.
At the bar, it’s worth asking for seasonal recommendations. Regular guests prefer seats directly at the counter, as small off-menu creations are also served fastest there. The European Brasserie on the ground floor will reopen at the end of September after the renovation.
