Those who want to learn Bachata in Berlin usually think of Mitte or Kreuzberg first. However, the journey to Reinickendorf, Benekendorffstraße 54, is definitely worthwhile. The Lockstep dance school invites you to be seduced into the world of Bachata dance and to learn the feeling for music and movement in this sensual dance style. Bachata Sensual is considered particularly body-focused. Characteristic of this style are the so-called body waves, i.e., wave-like movements of the entire body, into which turns and individual figures are incorporated.

Uta Bonz is responsible for the Bachata and Salsa course; she began her career as a ballet dancer at various theaters and subsequently mastered partner dances such as Standard and Latin, Argentine Tango, Discofox, Salsa, and Bachata. Her focus is on imparting the joy of dancing and developing the roles of leaders and followers. And it shows.

Lockstep Dance School: Course, Club, and Conditions

The Salsa & Bachata Dance Club takes place on Wednesdays from 20:00 to 21:20. Additionally, there is a new Salsa & Bachata beginner’s course on Saturdays from 13:50 to 15:10. So, if you’re completely new to Bachata, you’ll find a suitable entry point here even as a beginner. For the dance club, one should have approximately six months of dance experience. The monthly fee for the dance club is 48 Euros per person for one weekly class visit. This makes the offer fairly priced compared to other options in Berlin. The dance school’s overall offering also includes regular courses, workshops, practice afternoons, and dance parties, so that what has been learned can be put to use on the dance floor outside of class.
