The Olympiastadion Summer Pool was the venue for the Olympic swimming competitions in 1936, and the facility from 1934 to 1936 still stands today. In addition to the 50-meter pool, there is a separate diving pool with one- and three-meter springboards, as well as platforms at five, seven and a half, and ten meters high. A day ticket costs 6.50 Euros, reduced 3.80 Euros.

Olympic Competition Venue in Westend

Just a few minutes from the Olympia-Stadion subway station, a facility opens up that does not hide its origins. The Olympiastadion Summer Pool was built between 1934 and 1936 as a swimming stadium for the Olympic Games, and spectators then watched the competitions from the stands with their 7,500 permanent seats, supplemented by an additional 18,500 seats. The historic stands are now in need of renovation and closed to guests, but their backdrop remains visible from the sunbathing lawn that spreads out behind them. This makes a visit one of the more unusual swimming experiences in the city, especially since the prices hardly exceed those of an ordinary district pool. A day ticket is 6.50 Euros, reduced 3.80 Euros, and children under five years old accompanied by an adult enter free. Those who come more often can opt for a multi-entry ticket for twenty admissions or one of the subscriptions offered by Berliner Bäder for all their facilities. For students, there is also the Super-Ferien-Pass, which is sold at the pool ticket offices and covers a number of visits for nine Euros.

Diving Tower up to Ten Meters and a 50-Meter Pool

The main pool measures 50 meters in length and 1.80 meters in depth, making it suitable for both laps and guests who simply want to stand. Adjacent is a separate diving pool with 4.80 to 5 meters of water depth, above which are one-meter and three-meter springboards, as well as platforms at five, seven and a half, and ten meters high. Two non-swimmer pools with a maximum depth of 1.30 meters and a children’s slide complete the offer for younger guests. Showers, toilets, and changing rooms are barrier-free, and an elevator leads to the barrier-free changing room. The way is short: the U2 stops at Olympia-Stadion, the S5 at Olympiastadion, and from both stations, it’s only a few hundred meters to the entrance next to Olympischer Platz. The Olympiastadion Summer Pool is thus one of the pools that are suitable for a spontaneous visit, even though they are on the outskirts of the city. Those who want to swim laps will find the best conditions during off-peak hours when the main pool is not yet crowded.
