What is Dederon? How does a GDR pair of jeans feel? What is a Dacha? How did the Stasi's wiretapping work?

This small, interactive museum showcases GDR history you can touch. Visitors are allowed to open cupboard doors, search drawers, and use the telephone. A visit here is like a glimpse into the everyday life of the former GDR.

A complete, typical pre-fabricated panel building apartment has been reconstructed using original furnishings from donations. Special tours and seminars can be booked for school and travel groups, e.g., on questions such as why the planned economy led to empty shelves, why travel to the West was forbidden, and why the State Security was different from the Federal Intelligence Service.

Book your GDR Museum visit in 30 seconds here.
