A modern, stylish design hotel in the heart of Berlin and a fairy tale setting, the Grimm’s Hotel at Potsdamer Platz shows that this does not need to be a contradiction. The hotel design plays with quotations from famous fairy tales but not in an intrusive way. Thus families with children feel just as comfortable as business travelers.
Each of the bright hotel floors is dedicated to a different famous Grimm’s Fairy tale. Hansel and Gretel for instance are displayed over the top of the hotel bed in paper cutting. Graphic designs in the bedrooms reminds of the respective fairy tale supplemented by a quotation written on the wall in a quite unobtrusive way.
Thus bedrooms can be dedicated to Hansel and Gretel, Rumpelstiltzken or to Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty. The Kings Suite with its golden crown on top of the bed is dedicated to the Frog King.
Each fairytale motif was designed by another young designer as the result of a competition among art and design students. Overall, the purist, bright and clear design concept of the hotel convinces.
Even the restaurant on the ground floor stays in the subject and the dishes remind of fairy tale motifs.
The absolute highlight of the Grimm’s Hotel is the in-house sauna with its roof terrace at the top, which offers a truly magical view. The Grimm’s is located on Potsdamer Platz almost on the border of Kreuzberg to Tiergarten in the immediate vicinity of the park am Gleisdreieck. In addition to the imaginative design concept, the large windows that provide plenty of light, the guests are likely to appreciate the moderate prices, which are even cheaper in this three-star superior hotel on the Kreuzberg side than they would be in the immediate proximity to the Sony Center.
The great roof terrace can also be booked for small events, photo shootings, weddings and New Year’s Eve parties.
