Baerwaldbad

Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

The Baerwaldbad in Kreuzberg is a special gem. It is simultaneously an Italian Renaissance palace, a public swimming pool, and a volunteer city project!

The Baerwaldbad was built in 1901 as a “public bathing institution” and is now a listed building.

The bath palace is currently being renovated bit by bit with loving attention to detail, while remaining in operation. In the “Baerwaldbad Project,” young adults are trained in restoration techniques. The fact that the bath remains open to the public is due to the voluntary commitment of many members of the TSB sports club. Additionally, you can learn to swim here, do aquafitness, and water gymnastics.
