At POP – The Record Store in Berlin Kreuzberg, the sound is still available on vinyl, while collectors can also find a rarity or two.
With the advent of modern technologies, record stores where you can still buy real vinyl records are becoming increasingly rare. A wonderful exception is POP – The Record Store on Yorckstraße in Berlin, which has existed for about eight years and is a great place for buying and selling unique and like-new LPs. Connoisseurs know that the sound is simply warmer and fuller compared to CDs or MP3s, and that true treasures are hidden beneath the artfully designed sleeves. Here you can take your time, browse the selection with pleasure, and listen to all LPs through headphones.
Around 10,000 records with rock, jazz, hip-hop, avant-garde, folk, reggae, and other genres are waiting for your discovery. The small store is lovingly designed, displaying Elvis masks, record covers, and posters on the walls. In the corner stands an ancient gramophone, and the turntables are always in use. The atmosphere is relaxed, and on some evenings, live concerts and readings take place. In addition to secondhand records, there are also some selected new vinyl pressings. The owner knows an interesting story for almost every record.
