stilraumberlin on Eldenaer Straße exclusively sells vintage furniture that is restored in its own workshop, focusing on Scandinavian design and teak. Since 2019, new lamps and home accessories have been added. Prices range from 195 Euros for a pendant lamp to 1,950 Euros for an oak card catalog cabinet. The owners have been in the trade for 17 years.

Furniture Classics from Our Own Workshop

In the Samariterkiez, a few minutes from Frankfurter Allee train station, Meike and Genja Fehr run a shop whose assortment knows no catalog. At stilraumberlin, nothing is newly produced: every piece of furniture is a discovery, restored in-house before going on sale. The focus is on Scandinavian design and teak, specifically the design language of the post-war decades that still fits into any home today. The two have been doing this for seventeen years, having received, among other awards, a houzz Award. Visitors will find sideboards, display cabinets, cupboards, chairs, and tables, plus, since 2019, new lamps and home accessories that round out the program without diluting it. Each piece visibly carries its history, but a well-maintained one. The fact that the restoration happens in-house and is not outsourced is the point where vintage trade and vintage workshop differ.

Try Before You Buy and Take a Look at the Warehouse

The decisive difference to online vintage furniture retail lies in the invitation the store extends: You are welcome to look around at your leisure, try out pieces, get advice, and even take a look at the warehouse. This is more than a courtesy, because by no means everything available is on display in the shop or in the online store. So if you are looking for a specific size or type of wood, it’s better to ask than to rely on the exhibition. In terms of price, stilraumberlin covers a wide range: a vintage pendant lamp from Royal Copenhagen costs 195 Euros, a teak lowboard 345 Euros, and an old oak card catalog cabinet is priced at 1,950 Euros. For larger pieces, it’s worth asking about transport right away, and if you’re unsure whether a cabinet will fit through the stairwell, bring the measurements with you. Samariterstraße station is just over half a kilometer away, and Frankfurter Allee station is a few minutes further. The trip is worthwhile because here you’ll find pieces that you won’t find in the large design stores downtown.
