The Dorotheenstädtische Buchhandlung, located opposite the Moabit district court, has been delighting its customers for years, not with a chic ambiance or a latte macchiato island, but with genuine care for readers and true expertise.
In addition to crime novels and specialist literature on legal issues – fitting for its location opposite the court – another focus of the bookstore is on literature from and about Berlin or the local neighbourhood (Kiez). Volumes out of print elsewhere, e.g., by Heinz Knobloch, are miraculously still available here. Also specialist literature on the history of Arminiushalle or fiction by Tucholsky – here you will find imaginative reading material far from the bestseller lists of typical bookstore chains. And for those who need more inspiration, owner and Berlin original Klaus-Peter Rimpel offers expert advice. Readings are held at irregular intervals and are announced on the otherwise minimalist website.
