Hüttenpalast: Celebrate your birthday between caravans and a factory hall

In a Neukölln backyard on Hobrechtstraße, caravans and self-built wooden huts have stood in two former factory halls since 2010. Silke Lorenzen and Sarah Vollmer opened the establishment; one comes from event management, the other from fashion design and cuisine. The name alludes to the phrase “Peace to the huts, war on the palaces,” and the building was previously a vacuum cleaner factory.

Over 600 square meters are spread across two halls and a hotel area on the ground floor. Hall one features three caravans and three huts with names like “Heartbreaker,” “Mountain Hut,” or “Swallow’s Nest,” while hall two has five caravans, a mezzanine, and a lounge area with seating groups. Most of the caravans are GDR vintage models, the Heartbreaker being a 1959 Nagetusch. Additionally, there are six factory-loft style rooms with private bathrooms.

What is possible here for a celebration

The halls can be booked exclusively, designed for groups of friends and family of about twelve to fourteen people, who can also stay overnight. For workshops, presentations, and exhibitions, Hall One accommodates up to 30 participants. In the evenings, the group can sit undisturbed in the hall, and in the warmer half of the year, the green backyard is also available. Catering is provided through a fixed partner, and the establishment customizes the offerings.

A caravan or hut costs 70 to 100 Euros per night plus city tax, regardless of whether one or two people sleep in it; hotel rooms range from 80 to 180 Euros. Heating is provided even in the colder half of the year, with the halls maintaining around 20 degrees Celsius summer and winter. Card payment is possible, Wi-Fi is free, bed linen, towels, and a hairdryer are included, while TVs and minibars are intentionally omitted. Hermannplatz subway station is a five-minute walk away, and parking on side streets costs 3 Euros per hour.
