High above Kreuzberg, on Stresemannstraße near Anhalter Bahnhof, the Solar Sky-lounge & Restaurant is enthroned on the 16th and 17th floors of a high-rise building. Those who enter the glass external elevator land 70 meters above the Berlin skyline, trading street level for a 270-degree panoramic view over the entire capital.
Solar Sky-lounge & Restaurant: Berlin’s most famous rooftop bar with a wide view
Since 2005, Solar has been a go-to address for panoramic views and rooftop terrace feeling in Berlin. The access itself is already part of the experience: the glass exterior elevator leads directly from the entrance to the Sky Restaurant, offering a unique 270-degree panorama at a height of 70 meters. Once upstairs, the concept is split over two floors. On the 17th floor, the expansive 270-degree panoramic view can be enjoyed from comfortable sofas and swings, while a separate smoking area is located in the side wing. Those who prefer to drop by spontaneously are well-served in the Sky-Bar. No reservation is needed for the bar. From Thursday to Saturday, a DJ plays music in a way that is truly unique in Berlin: the artists move between both floors in a DJ lift, complementing the living room atmosphere with their favorite records.
Drinks, cuisine, and a guest list that speaks for itself
At the bar, Solar focuses on quality over quantity. The bar offers creative drinks, refined with homemade infusions and the finest spirits. One floor below, in the restaurant area on the 16th floor, head chef Jon Kremin impresses with a clear concept: since 2013, he has shaped the cuisine with passion, artisanal precision, and a fine sense for flavors. His creations stand for the highest quality, robust flavor profiles, and modern international influences. The sharing dinner concept invites guests to enjoy, share, and discover new flavors together. The guest list also shows that Solar is long past being a secret tip: well-known names like Hugh Grant, Scarlett Johansson, and Lady Gaga have spent valuable hours here. However, it should be noted: the prices are quite high compared to portion sizes, but they reflect quality and aspiration. As a rooftop bar with a panoramic view, Solar is one of the most atmospheric addresses in the city.
