Monkey Bar in Bikini Haus: Berlin’s Most Famous Rooftop Bar

Among Berlin’s bars with panoramic views, the Monkey Bar is the most famous. Located on the 10th and top floor of the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin, it offers an unbeatable panoramic view over the city and Berlin Zoo. The name is to be taken literally: it derives from the direct view of the zoo’s monkey house. During the day, you can observe what the orangutans and chimpanzees are up to. Those who come in the evening, however, look out onto a completely different panorama.

The 10th floor was subsequently added to the listed Bikinihaus, and its surrounding terrace offers breathtaking views of the Memorial Church, Budapester Straße, Kurfürstendamm, and the entire City West. The illuminated sign „Life is Beautiful” lights up the Berlin night sky as a silent declaration. There is simply no better place for a sundowner in this part of Berlin. However, it’s advisable to come early, as early birds secure the sunset and avoid the queue.

Cocktails, DJ Sets, and Rooftop Terrace Atmosphere

The Monkey Bar impresses with a wide selection of creative signature cocktails, as well as wine, beer, and various bar bites from the adjacent NENI Rooftop Restaurant. NENI Berlin, which serves Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, is located on the same floor and is also worth a visit. This way, the evening can be extended in a relaxed manner without even needing to use the elevator.

With seating both indoors and outdoors on the rooftop terrace, the bar is lively on most evenings, and various live DJs play on many days of the week. Inside, the Monkey Bar not only surprises with its floor-to-ceiling window front offering panoramic views but also with many whimsical and ironic design details. Guests can sit on a “monkey rock” made of a step construction with colorful cushions or on covered tree trunk stools. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends.
