THE WASH BAR: Cocktail Art on Brunnenstrasse

Whoever enters Brunnenstrasse 163 in Berlin-Mitte immediately notices: every detail here has been thought through. Above the entrance door, a black disco ball glitters. Behind it, a nearly ten-meter-long counter awaits, designed by graffiti artist AkteOne. The atmosphere is dim, clear, and more modern than one is used to from the neighborhood.

Pre-Batched Cocktails with Depth

The heart of the bar are the colorful glass balloons behind the counter. They store homemade liqueurs, spirit infusions, and pre-produced cocktails, freshly prepared weekly. Casual vibes and precise mixology go hand in hand here. The bar builds on classics and surprises with recognizable, often locally sourced ingredients, newly combined. The Boston Shaker remains almost untouched, as the drinks are predominantly stirred or built.

The menu features house creations such as the “Flowers & Bees”, a Collins twist with sage, honey, cinnamon, rosebuds, star anise, and peach, garnished with a gherkin. Or the “Woodruff”, a summery highball with home-grown woodruff, matcha, imported coca leaf liqueur, green habanero, tonic, and soda. Such combinations sound unusual but taste remarkably harmonious.

THE STORAGE: The Speakeasy in the Basement

For those who want to delve deeper into THE WASH BAR concept, THE STORAGE is recommended. This bookable speakeasy experience in the basement takes guests through the bar’s “Spin Cycle”. This is where the real magic happens: an intimate, private experience for a maximum of two people, feeling like entering another world. A visit is also worthwhile in summer, as the bar then opens completely to the front, offering several tables in the outdoor area.

Cocktails cost between 10 and 12 Euros, and payment is exclusively by card. The bar is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00. The bar’s motto best summarizes its self-image: “No drugs & nuclear weapons allowed inside.”
