Michelberger Hotel

The Michelberger Hotel on Warschauer Straße in Friedrichshain is arguably Berlin's most renowned design hotel with character: a former factory building from 1903, combining raw materials, handcrafted furniture, and an organic gastronomic concept with genuine Berlin coolness.
Michelberger Hotel: Design with History
The Michelberger resides in a former factory right next to the Oberbaumbrücke, demonstrating how industrial history can become a design concept. The interior remains true to its industrial roots: exposed concrete, walls painted with a construction material finish, and distinctive lamps define the atmosphere. The lobby is at the heart of it all, with its handcrafted lamps made of irregular caramel glass blown by Berlin Art Glas and mounted on brass frames. Furthermore, the central courtyard functions as a communal living room, hosting concerts, events, and parties throughout the year.
The Michelberger offers a total of seven room categories, from compact rooms for solo travelers to spacious options for families or groups. Some rooms even feature a private sauna. The rule is: with creative interiors and innovative spatial design, every single room looks like it came straight out of an interior design magazine.
Farm to Table and Authentic Berlin Lifestyle
What sets the Michelberger apart from other design hotels in Berlin is its consistent approach to sustainability. The hotel thinks in cycles: vegetables and fruits come from its own farm in Spreewald, spirits from its own distillery, and bread is baked in-house. What isn’t produced in-house is sourced organically from local producers. In addition, the courtyard is a meeting point for Berlin’s creative scene, thanks to regular live music, meditation sessions, and film screenings.
Hardly any other hotel in Berlin captures the city’s young, creative, and slightly anarchic lifestyle as well as the Michelberger on Warschauer Straße. Moreover, the location is hard to beat: the East Side Gallery is a five-minute walk away, and the S-Bahn and U-Bahn station Warschauer Straße is directly opposite. So, if you truly want to experience Berlin, this is the place to stay.
