macha-macha

The tea house macha-macha in Kreuzberg stands for the traditional Japanese and Chinese tea culture as well as vegan and vegetarian dishes of Japanese cuisine.

Traditional Japanese and Chinese teas as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes from Japanese cuisine can be enjoyed by visiting the tea house macha-macha on the Hasenheide in Kreuzberg. Enjoyment and appreciation of tea in generell are in focus here. The tea room has been in existence since 2014, but the concept has been revised once again and since autumn 2018 a Japanese chef and a French patissier have ensured that Japanese inspired sweet and spicy delicacies are also offered in macha-macha that go excellently with tea.

In addition to enjoying pure, traditionally prepared tea, macha-macha also offers very special roasts that contain single malt notes or even resemble the taste of coffee, which is why flavours like espresso, cappuccino or latte macchiato based on tea are also offered. For your physical well-being there are also hearty vegetarian and vegan dishes from Japanese cuisine as well as sweet treats such as the popular Matcha cheesecake.

The small restaurant is divided into two areas. In the entrance area there is a sales counter behind which the teas are freshly brewed and a few seats at small bistro tables. At the back of the restaurant is the traditional tea room. Here, it really feels a bit like being on holiday in Japan. Walls plastered with clay, a wooden structure that separates the area and seats on the floor provide an authentic ambience.

Although a Matcha Latte may not be missing on the card, the name macha-macha is not based on the trendy Matcha tea but means "pure/true tea". Joy, love, devotion, quality and an ecological and organic cultivation are part of the philosophy of the company. The international team has made it its mission to promote the pleasure of tea and a healthy, joyful lifestyle.
