At Engeldamm, where Germany’s first trade union house and later the Institute of Tropical Medicine were once located, Blumental has occupied an airy, light-filled, and historically significant space. If you have some time after your visit, you’ll find the picturesque Engelbecken right next door, with St. Michael’s Church reflected in it. As a vegan-vegetarian restaurant and Berlin’s first modern coffee house, Blumental has become an indispensable part of Berlin’s culinary scene since its opening in 2023.

What’s on the menu?

What comes to the table at Blumental primarily comes to the center. From Wednesday to Saturday starting at 5 PM, the café transforms into an atmospheric evening restaurant, celebrating a cool concept with Mezze Blumental Style: many small dishes intended for sharing across the entire table. And sharing at Blumental doesn’t mean sacrifice, but abundance for the stomach and togetherness. Accompanied by spritzes, natural wines, and fine drinks in a festive atmosphere.

The cuisine is consistently vegan-vegetarian, creative, and full of flavors, with a plant-based focus and truly good ingredients. The menu features dishes such as BBQ Fantastico with marinated mushrooms, baked sweet potato, chimichurri, and chipotle mayo, fermented kimchi as an aromatic appetizer, or shakshuka, which can optionally be ordered vegan with tofu. The Hummus Sabich can also be enjoyed vegan with tofu upon request. To finish, the Pink Pancakes beckon: a literal pancake tower with sour cherries and amaranth crumble.
