Italianità in the heart of Schöneberg: Viani on Akazienstraße is one of Berlin's most beautiful delis, featuring a fresh counter full of buffalo mozzarella, homemade pizza dough, and unforgettable antipasti. Anyone who shops, cooks, tastes, and enjoys aperitivos here is guaranteed to quickly get into an Italian-romantic mood.

About Viani Schöneberg

The family business Viani has been dedicated to Italian culinary culture since the 1970s. Son Remo Viani took over the original wholesale business from his father Antonio, the founder from Liguria, and made the selected range accessible to everyone through their retail stores. The Schöneberg branch is located at Akazienstraße 1 in 10823 Berlin.

Viani Schöneberg is an alimentari, deli, and café all in one: selected Italian foods, inviting tables, and a cappuccino just like in a bar in Naples. At the fresh counter, you can feast your eyes on Italian cheeses, delicious cold cuts, and pickled antipasti, and fortunately, also try some on site. A highlight is the homemade pizza dough made from the best ingredients, which is allowed to rest for 24 hours – a luxury rarely afforded at home. Only then is it bottled in reusable jars and brought to sale.

If you’re looking for more than just shopping, you’ll also find it here. In the cooking classes, you learn from experienced chefs and enjoy in a friendly atmosphere. Or you can discover special aromas at tastings, while experts share exciting stories about the specialties. A visit on Thursdays is also especially worthwhile: on Pizza Day, there’s 50% off pizza dough. Around Akazienstraße, there are also other wine bars, cafés, and small restaurants that can wonderfully extend an evening for two.

Why is Viani Schöneberg a great place for a first date?

A first date primarily needs one thing: a good excuse to start a conversation. Viani provides several. The inviting atmosphere and thoughtfully placed recipe cards stimulate creativity and invite you to discover new culinary adventures together. Those who can stroll through the shelves together, taste antipasti, and discuss olive oil will almost automatically find themselves in conversation.

Moreover, Viani as a first date is pleasantly low-key. You don’t have to sit in a restaurant and maintain eye contact for hours. Instead, there’s plenty to see, smell, and taste. Inside the deli area and outside, you can enjoy fresh cuisine all day, from breakfast cornettos to soups and salads. This takes the pressure off and creates a relaxed atmosphere.

If you want to spend even more time together, you can also book one of the cooking classes. In the evening, you gather around the kitchen island with other cooking enthusiasts and learn not only how an Italian Nonna rolls pasta, but also secrets of the Levant or the delicate Asian world of flavors. As a date, this is a really good idea, because cooking together connects faster than any small talk program. So: Buona fortuna.
