The well-known bastard is located almost at the end of the hip Reichenberger street near the famous Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg. Inside the café is decorated with a simple decor and wooden tables. Outside simple garden tables are set up on the sidewalk. The service operates unpretentious and friendly. The atmosphere is lively.
On weekends people mostly queue and you have to be lucky for someone to leave. The waiters politely ask for allowance to place other guests beside you at your table. The audience is a typical Kreuzberg-mix and mainly international. The breakfast menu is extensive, varied and appealing. There are all sorts of scrambled eggs and beside cheese and sausage platters also vegetarian and vegan breakfast dishes and delicious cakesare served at Bastard. The homemade brioches are delicious – definitely try them with cream cheese and jam. The coffee at Bastard is excellent.
Especially on weekends the waiting time for food is a little longer, but definitely worth it. Each breakfast dish is fondly prepared and decorated with currant, melon, cherries and starfruits. The bread is freshly baked. Guests like to sit a little longer at Bastard and enjoy the morning bustle of the Reichenberger street. On Tuesdays the Bastard is closed.
