The Wintermarkt Schloßplatz is located directly at the Humboldt Forum, combining culture and culinary delights opposite Berlin Cathedral. In the evenings, video projections illuminate the reconstructed baroque facades, offering visitors one of the city's most spectacular backdrops.
Schloßplatz Winter Market: Light Art on the Humboldt Forum Facades
The Schloßplatz Winter Market stretches between Lustgarten, Museum Island, and Berlin Cathedral, also utilizing the Schlüterhof inside the Humboldt Forum. From the market, views extend over the Lustgarten to Museum Island, and behind the Humboldt Forum, the grounds reach the Spree riverbank. The illumination is provided by Boehlke, a company that has already lit up city landmarks for the Festival of Lights: Their video mappings are specially designed for this location and animate the reconstructed baroque facades around Schloßplatz. For families, there is a historic Ferris wheel with an organ, a historic chain carousel, and a children’s carousel. On November 23, 2026, the longest “Stollen” (German Christmas bread) will also be cut for a good cause, with proceeds going as a donation to the Aktion Augenlicht (Action Eyesight) campaign.
Feuerzangenbowle in the Schlüterhof and Cuisine from Various Countries
Culinarily, the Schloßplatz Winter Market offers classics like Baumstriezel, roasted almonds, and mulled wine, alongside stalls with flame-grilled salmon over an open fire, flambéed pasta from a Parmesan wheel, Korean dumplings, Jamaican specialties, and Finnish Glögi, much of it certified organic quality. For children, the honey hut once again offers candle-making. In the Schlüterhof, you’ll find the Berlin Feuerzangenbowle with a flambéed sugarloaf and its own dining area. New this season is the Wintermarkt-Stube, a heated indoor area with more than 260 seats, where Christmas parties and other events can be held, and guests can order a three-course menu in advance or à la carte. Cozy seating areas and fire pits are distributed throughout the entire site, accompanied by a changing entertainment program featuring violinists, saxophonists, LED artists, barrel organ players, and elves, all free to experience. The retail offerings range from handmade jewelry, ceramics, and candles to alpaca wool and fair-trade paper stars.
