Brandenburg

The rural tour through northern Brandenburg bypasses the idyllic Neuruppin Lake.

In Neuruppin, north-west of Berlin, begins the 63-kilometer long bicycle tour, which runs on paved paths around Neuruppin Lake and through forests and meadows, making it ideal for every type of bicycle. The first stop on the cycling tour is the beautiful Tempelgarten. It’s worth stopping here to admire the magnificent buildings and well-maintained garden, and perhaps even take the first break to enjoy seasonal German cuisine in the restored villa.

As soon as you leave Neuruppin in a southerly direction, the cycle path runs past the idyllic Ruppiner See, fields, and quiet country roads. The cycle route leads through many small towns such as Dammkrug and over the Ruppiner Canal, a popular spot for anglers. On the bank, you can relax and dangle your legs in the water during a short break. The green field landscape transitions into a dense, shady forest area and continues to Vielitzsee. Here you can enjoy the wonderful view from park benches and even picnic on covered benches.

The next stage of this bike tour is the small town of Lindow, which offers many opportunities to stop at cafes or restaurants. Further along the route, there is an opportunity to make a detour to the town of Alt-Ruppin and look around a bit before returning to Neuruppin and ending the bike excursion.
