Germany's first inclusive co-working space is located in the heart of Wedding, within the historic halls of the former Osram-Höfe. TUECHTIG makes accessibility a fundamental principle rather than a bonus, demonstrating how collaborative work can truly be for everyone.
TUECHTIG: Berlin’s Inclusive Co-Working Space in Wedding
TUECHTIG is Berlin’s first inclusive and barrier-free co-working space, opening its doors in 2017. The space is located in the historically protected industrial buildings of the former Osram-Höfe in Wedding, precisely where light bulbs rolled off the production line until 1990. Today, people who could hardly be more diverse work here. In the office, people with and without disabilities work independently or sometimes together on a wide variety of projects. This is no coincidence; it’s by design.
Spanning over 700 sqm, the inclusive, barrier-free co-working and event space TUECHTIG offers ample room for creativity and collaborative projects. It explicitly caters to everyone: founders, freelancers, and employees with and without disabilities, of all ages and backgrounds. So, if you’re looking for a co-working space in Berlin that doesn’t just display diversity but lives it daily, you’ve come to the right place.
Accessibility as Standard, Not Exception
What sets TUECHTIG apart from other co-working spaces in Berlin lies in the details. Alongside many friendly colleagues, visitors can expect a largely barrier-free working environment with wheelchair-accessible rooms, electrically height-adjustable desks, and an induction loop system. Furthermore, custom furniture has even been developed: the KonFAIRenz table was designed, which, with its three different heights, allows wheelchair users to sit comfortably at the table. Additionally, a digital guidance system at TUECHTIG provides information about the rooms and their contents via sign language, audio description, and plain language.
Mental health is also addressed. Working and strengthening mental health: TUECHTIG continues its offerings even after the model project ends. The Soul Office opens as a physical and mental space for further initiatives related to mental health in the workplace. If you’d like to try a desk for a day: a day pass for a barrier-free workspace costs 15 Euros, a monthly membership is 200 Euros. In addition, 1,000 MBit/s fiber optic internet is included. In short: TUECHTIG sets a benchmark for what co-working in Berlin can mean when it’s truly taken seriously.
