The monumental flight of stairs is playfully illuminated by more than 800 small globe lamps by the Berlin company Lichtbau. The neoclassicist building was built in the 1930 as the Danish Embassy by architect Johann Emil Schaudt who also built the
KaDeWe. The historic building was carefully renovated and got a modern add on at its side.

Fun fact: The facade of the newly added building which can be seen by visitors to the Zoo, has the look of an old living room wallpaper – especially funny when you know that “Stue” is Danish means living room.

The elegant rooms are state-of-the- art, painted with decent, natural colours. The suites offer generous 50 square metres of space with a view to Tiergarten or evenn directly into the enclosures of the Berlin Zoo. The design of the hotel plays with the zoo theme with knee-high rhino figures made of leather or also the giant alligator skull in the lobby. The ambitious restaurant Cinco was awarded by Michelin star in November 2013 by Guide Michelin.
