Landgut Stober: A Conference Hotel with History

Landgut Stober stands on a Germanic settlement area over 2,100 years old and was developed into a model agricultural estate by the Borsig family in 1866. In doing so, the entrepreneurial family transferred its principles, including economic success, innovation, and social and ecological responsibility, to agriculture.

Ernst von Borsig Jr., great-grandson of industrialist August Borsig, later belonged to the Kreisau Circle – a civilian resistance movement against National Socialism.

The history of the estate is still tangible at every turn. The historic buildings have been carefully developed for current use, connecting past with present. Whether it’s the former granary, the historic cattle stable, or the lovingly restored salons – original wooden floorboards, brickwork, and numerous preserved details characterize the historic ensemble. The lithography workshop from 1896 and the historic Borsig steam engine “Dicke Bertha” recall the house’s eventful history, while modern conference technology and contemporary comfort create ideal conditions for events.

Today, companies use Landgut Stober for executive development, strategy meetings, conferences, team-building, product presentations, film productions, and events of various kinds. Those who convene here find not only modern conference rooms but a place with history, tranquility, and foresight. And all of this just about 20 minutes from the Berlin city limits.

30 Conference Rooms, 300 Rooms and Lived Sustainability

Landgut Stober features 30 conference and event salons ranging from 30 to 600 square meters. Indoor events can accommodate up to 700 people, while the outdoor area offers approximately 12,000 square meters for events with up to 2,000 people. In total, the estate offers 300 rooms and 428 beds. These are ideal conditions for events of any size, from small workshops to international conferences. In addition to the modern conference rooms, the expansive park, Lake Groß Behnitz, the lake terrace, and the historic architecture invite guests to combine focused work with tranquility, nature, and inspiring encounters.

Sustainability has been an integral part of Landgut Stober’s philosophy for many years. The establishment operates according to the principles of the economy for the common good, combining ecological action with social responsibility. This understanding is also reflected in daily operations: the estate sources 100 percent green electricity, generates more electricity annually than it consumes with its own photovoltaic system, heats the entire property with two wood chip heating systems, and collects approximately 400 cubic meters of rainwater in cisterns, which is used, among other things, for toilet flushing. These examples represent a holistic sustainability concept.

For this consistent commitment, Landgut Stober has been awarded, among others, the European Green Hotelier Award (2017) and the European Green Awards (2021), and is now considered one of the pioneers for sustainable events in Germany.
