Lila Lämmchen

On Dunckerstraße in Prenzlauer Berg, the name Lila Lämmchen stands for much more than just a children's shop: Since 1977, this Berlin family business has represented sustainable children's fashion made from organic cotton, wool, and silk, certified and consistently free of harmful substances.
Lila Lämmchen: A Berlin Institution for Sustainable Children’s Fashion
Since 1977, Lila Lämmchen has been an absolute institution in sustainable and fairly produced children’s fashion. This makes it one of the oldest shops of its kind in the capital. It was founded by Eva Linke and was one of the first ecological baby and children’s shops in Berlin at the time. Today, the family continues to run the business in its second generation, with the same standards but a significantly expanded product range.
Anyone who enters the shop immediately notices: Quality is not just claimed here. The organic clothing is made from high-quality fabrics such as wool, wool-silk blends, organic cotton, and alpaca. During manufacturing, pesticides and harmful fertilizers are deliberately avoided, which manufacturers prove with tested seals such as the GOTS and IVN BEST seals. Additionally, plastic items have been almost completely removed from the range.
Three Shops, One Concept: Organic Children’s Fashion and More
Lila Lämmchen is no longer just a single shop. It spans three adjacent stores: The first offers baby equipment and children’s clothing in sizes 50 to 140, selected toys, and books. The second store carries green fashion for adults, bedding, and towels. In the third, you’ll find shoes for all ages, socks, rainwear, and cuddly toys. Thus, Lila Lämmchen covers not only special children’s fashion but the entire range of child-related equipment, uncompromisingly ecological. Baby carriers for parents and Waldorf crafting materials for older children further round out the offering. The shop’s generational appeal is also evident: Customers regularly come in to say that their parents used to shop there, or grandparents now shop for their grandchildren.
