A stylish bar with live music, a restaurant with a fireplace, a lounge and also a charming, individually managed boutique hotel, this is the Orania.Berlin on Oranienplatz in Kreuzberg.

The concept of Orania.Berlin in the heart of Kreuzberg on Oranienplatz is quite unusual. The lobby of the boutique hotel opened in August 2017 hat a generous open lounge area with a fireplace, a fine dining restaurant and a stage with a large black Steinway piano.

This grand piano is not a decoration, but the lounge regularly hosts live music concerts, jazz and electro, as well as readings. The performing artists deliberately come from Berlin and often live in the Kreuzberg neighborhood.

With 41 rooms and suites, this charming boutique hotel is rather small, but does not seem that way. It is housed in a beautiful listed building with large windows offering unobstructed views to Oranienplatz.

The house in a part of Berlin called then Luisenstadt was built in 1913 and formerly housed the “Oranienpalast Kaffee” in the 1920s, whose tradition is based on today’s cultural program. The place was never used as a residential building, but was used as a large department store on the then busy Oranienplatz.

Especially the large former department store windows on the ground floor, which show the rooms in warm colors and friendly light, invite the curious to have a drink at the bar or a tea in the lounge and perhaps come back to the next cultural event. Hotel guests are invited to the art and cultural events. External guests pay a manageable fee for the concerts.

The individual Hotel Orania.Berlin does not belong to any chain but is the small sister of Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, which has been known for years as a hotel with an artistic tradition.
