The historical swimming pool “Stadtbad” at Oderberger Straße in Prenzlauer Berg was closed for 30 years. Then it opened again as a small exquisite boutique hotel, which was a little miracle. Almost five years the hotel has been meticulously renovated with great attention to detail. 70 rooms were created, five tower suites and two apartments on four-star level. There are also 20 conference rooms. Everywhere there are many little things that indicate the former use as a public bathing establishment. The former ticket booth is part of the library. The bathroom doors of the hotel rooms are the old, green doors of the bathing rooms.

The Neo-Renaissance building is a listed building with an impressive entrance portal. The highlight of the building, however, is the swimming pool. Owner Barbara Jaeschke is pleased: “Swimming in a cathedral is something special.” Five days a week, the bath is actually open not only for hotel guests but also for residents. The swimming area is not very big with 20 m and the bath temperature with about 24 degrees C also rather on the cool side. For this you swim in a renovated bathing monument. The historic town bath was built according to designs by the architect and town planning officer Ludwig Hoffmann originally opened in 1902.

The absolute highlight, which is to finance operation of the swimming pool, is the rental of the hall as an event location. For this purpose, a special hydraulic system was installed in the swimming pool. The floor of the swimming pool can be raised with it. Wiped dry, the room can hold up to 800 people at special events.
