Siegessäule

The Siegessäule (Victory Column) is one of Berlin's most well-known landmarks. If you want to be close to the gilded statue of Viktoria, Goddess of Victory (affectionately nicknamed "Goldelse" by the locals) you have to be sure your feet will carry you up the spiral staircase.

In order to reach the viewing point of the 67metres high column, you have to climb 285 stairs.

Once you have climbed the spiral staircase, you will reap the reward of one of most breathtaking vistas of the city. The 360° panorama platform is located directly on the viewing axis between City West and the Brandenburg Gate in the East and offers a grandiose vista over Tiergarten.

By the way: the exhibition on the emerging European national states on the ground floor of the Siegessäule is worth a visit, too.
