Going for a bike ride through Berlin’s oldest district will show you Spandau’s most beautiful, historic and green side. The highlight of this tour is a stop at the Spandau Citadel – one of the oldest strongholds from Renaissance in Europe which is often venue for big open air events such as concerts or exhibitions. Climbing the tower Juliusturm at Spandau Citadel will give you a great view over Spandau.

After stopping by at the citadel you ride alongside the banks of the river Havel and up to the Spandau lock. From there the bicycle trail follows some streets until you get to “Kolk” – the oldest part of Spandau with old cobblestone streets. Here you can see the old city wall. You have to follow the ruins of the wall until you reach Brauhaus Spandau where you can enjoy a cold drink and relax a little bit before moving on to the Spandau city hall – which is the final stop of this route. There you can either enjoy some ice cream at Eiscafé Florida or you can grab your bike and wander through the old town for a little shopping spree.

The bike tour through Berlin-Spandau takes about one to two hours – depending on how long you plan in for your breaks.
