Once the Alte Pumpe really was a pumping station, but nowadays it is a monument of Berlin industrial culture. The complex is home to a youth centre and a restaurant among other things. The place served as a pumping station until the 1970s, the pumps were safely removed for one giant piston pump. This impressive piece of machinery was renovated and serves as an enormous eye catcher in the restaurant room these days.

On Sundays after 10:00 pm the restaurant offers a huge breakfast buffet. The spacious rooms are a great location for large-scale events like company functions. Once a week, an evening jazz session with dinner buffet is organized. The Sunday breakfast is welcomed by families since next door there is a public playground. With good weather conditions, the breakfast can also be enjoyed in the garden while the kids run wild.
