The Parker Bowles is an experimental-looking restaurant at Moritzplatz, complementing Kreuzberg’s popular club Prince Charles right next to it. Managing Director of the Parker Bowles restaurant, Oliver Rother, says that the gastronomic scene around Moritzplatz in Kreuzberg is upcoming. With the trendy urban building complex of the Aufbauhaus, Oliver Rother found a stylish home for his restaurant Parker Bowles. And things are indeed developing in this lively area: Urban Gardening metropolitans dig in the Prinzessinnengärten and in Ritterstrasse Oskar Melzer recently opened his new pastrami shop “Louis Pretty”. The Parker Bowles is also the starting point for a night out in the Prince Charles club next-door.

It is the right location though to establish a new gastronomic concept that interprets young, urban German cuisine completely new and unrestrained. “I love German craftsmanship,” says Rother, “for example, the production of a perfect jus.” At the Parker Bowles, the focus is on good workmanship and excellent products, combined with a casual, informal atmosphere and a young, urban ambience. Saskia Kaufmann and Justin Alan, who have also designed the restaurants Crackers and the 893, are responsible for the minimalist interior design.

Concerning the food the focus is on freshness and quality. The dishes in Parker Bowles can be quite simple, but with a special kick. The Wiener Schnitzel is cut from the piece here, prepared à la minute and is served with a crispy almond crust instead of a classic crust. Also the suppliers play an important role at Parker Bowles. The cod always comes fresh from the “German lake” fish factory.
The Parker Bowles also cares for its in-house winegrowers like Katharina Wechsler from Rheinhessen, who created an easy summer house wine from several burgundy varieties for Parker Bowles. In case of wine the focus at Parker Bowles clearly is on German wines, from the elegant Rieslingsekt to the simple natural wine.

The surrounding offices use the Parker Bowles for lunch break or business meetings. The price level at noon is approximately 10 Euros. In the evening you have to spend a budget of around 20 to 30 Euros for a main dish. Apart from the à la carte dishes and classic menus, there are many share-food dishes, which can easily be shared in a group. On weekends a reservation is recommended as the restaurant is strongly visited in the evening on these days.
